Defining Prevention

Defining Prevention in three critical ways:

1. Primary Prevention: when services are available to all members of the general population and seek to promote wellness
2. Secondary Prevention: when services are offered to adults and children who are considered "at risk" for abuse or neglect
3. Tertiary Prevention: when services are offered to populations where child abuse and neglect have been substantiated with the focus on preventing further occurrences
